Auguries of Innocence - William Blake

Passages from Auguries of Innocence by William Blake (Click on the title for the Entire Poem) To see a world in a grain of sand, And a heaven in a wild flower, Hold infinity in the palm of your hand, And eternity in an hour. He who mocks the infant's faith Shall be mock'd in age and death. He who shall teach the child to doubt The rotting grave shall ne'er get out. We are led to believe a lie When we see not thro' the eye, Which was born in a night to perish in a night, When the soul slept in beams of light. God appears, and God is light, To those poor souls who dwell in night; But does a human form display To those who dwell in realms of day.

Heaven and Hell

Heaven is ... Where the police are British, The cooks are Italian, The mechanics are German, The lovers are French and It's all organized by the Swiss. Hell is ... Where the police are German, The cooks are British, The Mechanics are French, The lovers are Swiss and It's all organized by the Italians.
