तारे ज़मीन पर - (Tare Zameen Par) Lyrics

Saw the Movie Tare Zameen Par a couple of weeks back. This instantly reminded me of Soichiro Hondas words - The value of life can be measured by how many times your soul has been deeply stirred... This movie had definitely stirred my soul :-). The movie is about an urban Indian kid who is unable to do any regular school stuff. He has the psychological condition called Dyslexia. To others he seems "retarded" and lazy. He finds it difficult to read, learn, comprehend complex conditions and keeps failing in all his subjects. How will society treat such a child? especially Indian society? where it is paramount that your child grows up to be a professional in traditional disciplines - medicine, engineering etc. How will his teachers, peers, parents and brother react to his condition? They all think he must just be stupid and lazy. The movie is heart wrenching. a must see. Anyways, I wrote this blog not about the movie but about one particular song in the movie called Kholo Kholo. and specifically about this stanza

तू धुप है जम से भिखार
तू है नदी ओ बेखबर
बह चल कहीं
उड़ चल कहीं
दिल खुश जहाँ
तेरी तो मंजिल है वोही

Tu dhop hai jam se bhikhar
Tu hai nadi o bekhabhar
Beh chal kahin
Ud chal kahin
Dil khush jahan
Teri to manzil hai wohi

You are the Sunlight, Shine with abandon
You are the River O ignorant one
Flow away some where
Fly away some where
where the heart finds happiness
That alone is your destiny!
